I'm not sure we've thought this whole social networking thing through properly.
I think relatively few people have realised what Social Networking has the potential to do and become. And when we start talking about companies that list dwindles significantly to around 40 (thanks to Mashable)
It's been pointed out lately that something has gone wrong with the whole gamut of services...
SpeakZA – Bloggers for a Free Press
Last week, shocking revelations concerning the activities of the ANC Youth League spokesperson Nyiko Floyd Shivambu came to the fore. According to a letter published in various news outlets, a complaint was laid by 19 political journalists with the Secretary General of the ANC, against Shivambu. This complaint letter detailed attempts by...
Roast Venison
Posted by rob March 22, 2010, under Personal | 3 Comments |
My MIL recently gave us a packet of venison to cook as she'd never done it before (we bloody hadn't either but eh).
It turned out pretty well and I'm now pretty confident with venison so yay!
(excuse the cellphone picture)
Here's the recipe if anyone cares:
Main dish
1 leg Venison
250 streaky bacon (cut into 3cm pieces) [I found 250 to be a bit...
Cooking venison for old people
Posted by Rob March 20, 2010, under Personal | No Comments |
I'm about to embark on an adventure of stunning tastelessness.
Over this weekend I'll be cooking around 3kg of venison.
The catch? It has to be pretty bland in order to cater for the tastes of my mom and pop in law.
Any suggestions? (Boiling is not a suggestion)

FIFA are idiots

Continuing the trend, FIFA are idiots. At least if what Kulula.com airline are saying about them is true.
Seriously? We can't use the SA Flag, a soccer ball, a vuvuzela or even the word South Africa now?
Well, if 6000.co.za can be the Unofficial...
Mweb is everything that’s wrong

With internet in SA.
Not 15 minutes ago I posted a blog about Mweb's Uncapped offering.
As I've been sitting and thinking about it - and reading comments all over the intertubes, I've been filled with a peculiar form of Nerdrage (which is what happens whenever I think about internet in SA).
Mweb really is everything that's wrong with the internet in this...
Mweb Uncapped
Posted by Rob March 18, 2010, under South Africa | 1 Comment |
Mweb today announced that they would be offering uncapped ADSL (to the tune of 384k) for R219 per month, an amount which is yards lower than any other in South Africa.
But what does this bold new move by Mweb mean for you?
If you're anything like me, absolutely nothing.
In short, Mweb's new package is one that tailors to those people who may have heard...
The ANCYL (and the media) are idiots
Posted by rob March 17, 2010, under South Africa | No Comments |
The ANC Youth League made the news again today as they threatened South African Journalists with a revelation of personal information about their lives, business dealings and even credit worthiness. The journalists have launched official complaints against the ANCYL amid more abuse from Mr Shivambu and friends.
What a complete cockup.
I mean really. We seem to be being...
Tonight has been a bit of a bust for me.
I managed to get some big things fixed that have been bugging me on www.dementia.co.za but that's about it.
I had hoped to upgrade the chat and make it super sexy but not so much at this time. Hope nobody mobs me for that.
Fortunately, some good came out of the evening. I've taken to wondering if I shouldn't use this opportunity to expand the site as I've...
Tonight's work is all about communication. While I spent some of last night getting Twitter feeds working for my forum (yay!) - my mission as it stands now is to get a good, solid and customizable chat software suite running.
It needs to be:
PHP/Flash based
Integrated with the forums (one login, one username)
Have customisable smilies
Look good and run well
Wish me luck. Frustrations no doubt...
